Dabangg and Shah Rukh win the best at IIFA Awards

The 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards has taken place this weekend at the Rogers Center in Toronto. Salman Khan starrer film “Dabangg” ruled this year’s ceremony and snatched six awards in popular category including the Best Picture and Best Screenplay while Shah Rukh Khan won the top honor as he grabbed the Best Actor trophy.

Shah Rukh won the best actor award for his performance in Karan Johar directed film “My Name Is Khan”. The same award in female category was taken by Anushka Sharma for playing a wedding planner in “Band Baaja Baaraat”. Also, her co-star in the film Ranvir Singh won the Best Debut Male Award and together the pair won the Best Pair of 2011 for the same film.

In best supporting star category Arjun Rampal won over Arshad Warsi and bagged the award for his role in Prakash Jha’s political thriller “Rajneeti” while Prachi Desai won the Best Supporting Actress award for “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai”.

Tamil’s Shankar directed and Rajnikanth starrer film “Robot” won three honors and received trophies for Best Special Effects, Best Art Direction and Best Makeup Awards.
