The production work of long awaited project, the animated remake of Raj Kumar Santoshi’s blockbuster comedy film “Andaz Apna Apna”, is now started and the production company of this animation film, iRock, has cleared that the characters of their film won’t look similar to the original actors of Santoshi’s film, i. e. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon and Paresh Rawal.
The company has taken this decision to avoid any legal hassles like copyright and licensing issues. “There are limitations to what I can do because they are such big stars. With the licensing, merchandising and other factors, it would invite legal trouble. We basically wanted unique identity for the characters, if you look at Woody from Toy Story, he does not look like Tom Hanks,” said the CEO of iRock, Sid Jain. However, he confirmed that the spirit of the characters in their animated film will be the same as the original actors.
Released in 1994, Andaz Apna Apna is one of the most successful films of Indian cine history. Aamir and Salman have played the remarkable characters Amar Manhoar and Prem Bhopali in the film while Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor created confusion throughout the film with their characters Raveena and Karisma respectively.
