Ram Gopal Varma threatened by BJP, lodges FIR
Director Ram Gopal Varma has received a threatening letter from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Maharashtra unit for making a film with actress Maria Susairaj. After that, the director has registered an FIR today in the Versova police station against BJP’s Yuva Morcha activists.
Ram Gopal Varma has started to receive warnings and threats from various political and social wings when he expressed his desire to work with Kannada actress Maria Susairaj, who was convicted for the murder of a television executive (Neeral Grover) and was released last week. Also, RGV is making a film on Neeral Grover’s murder case.
After lodging complaint in the police station, Varma said on his micro blogging page, “Other organizations warnings I got to hear from the media but the BJP sent a signed warning letter directly to my office”.
Ramu confirmed that he will stand by his opinion on Susairaj and said, “If someone has been convicted and the person served a given sentence she has a right to start her life afresh and that’s a part of civilized society. Maria is not my sister or my girlfriend and I don’t even know her ..so it’s not about supporting her but it’s about standing for my beliefs.”
